Your Rain computer uses 1066MHz DDR3 Dual Channel memory. By using matched pairs of memory modules, overall performance is increased. The memory in your Rain computer is designed for high reliability, low latency and low heat. Unlike a hard drive, Random Access Memory (RAM) has no moving parts. So data transfer is many times faster than a conventional hard drive. The combination of a powerful processor and a large amount of main memory creates a system capable of more tracks, effects, layers, plug-ins and virtual instruments. Important: You must choose Windows 7 Pro [64-bit] to utilize 6GB or 8GB of memory.

The high performance hard drives in your Rain computer are engineered for fast data transfer up to 3Gb/s. Each HDD operates at 7200RPM, using a 32MB cache (buffer) to prevent the data bottlenecks that lead to glitches, dropouts and distortion.

You can also configure your Rain with the new generation of Solid State Drives (SSD) for light speed streaming. With no moving parts, SSD gives you instant access to all your data. The SATA III connection streams your media files at up to 6 gigabits per second.

The StormDrive optical drive in your Rain computer is designed to produce low heat and noise. Connected via SATA II with a 2MB buffer, you can burn and play CDs and DVDs and for backup, file sharing or distribution.

The new LiveBook Docking Station saves you time by taking care of all the connections to your LiveBook in one easy step. Dock your LiveBook and take advantage of the additional video output, USB connectivity and a DVD or Blu-Ray optical drive. The Kensington lock port keeps everything safe in the studio while you and your LiveBook are on the road.

Note: Some power management features of your LiveBook have been temporarily disabled to ensure optimum performance for DJ, audio and video production. This process shortens the total time your LiveBook can operate on battery power alone. Restoring these power management features will give you much longer battery life but may effect performance with your audio and video applications. Rain recommends maintaining a connection a reliable power source when possible for the best performance with your creative software and hardware.
